Brake
A brake is a mechanical device that inhibits motion by absorbing energy from a moving system. It is used for slowing or stopping a moving vehicle, wheel, axle, or to prevent its motion, most often accomplished by means of friction. The brake system takes the kinetic energy of your moving vehicle and converts it to thermal energy through friction. That energy is used to slow and stop your four-thousand-pound-plus metal machine. The concept is the same; the equipment, well that is a bit more complex. There are many type of brake such as Disc brake, Drum brake, Emergency brake, Antilock brake etc.
Disc brakes consist of a brake rotor which is attached directly to the wheel. Drum brakes consist of a brake drum attached to the inside of the wheel. The front brake pads do most of the work, causing them to wear faster and need replacement more often. When you step on the brakes, your car lurches forward, landing squarely on the front wheels. This is where most of your car’s braking power comes from.
